New Moon in Libra: Swing your partner, do-se-do

October 4th, 2010 | terri

Remember square dancing in elementary school, that dizzying array of barked orders and the kaliedoscope of classmates awkwardly flailing around?  The first few tries utter misery: no-one knows what they are doing, everyone's bumping into each other, the arms don't mesh up properly...  But then there's this moment when the music, your current partner, the dance steps go from awkward-n-forced to ... effortless.  It's rare at first, then these moments get more and more frequent as we practice.  I won't lie to you, most of us aren't there yet, instead we may be feeling dizzy from too much do-se-do, and a bit spun out and confused.  Things may still feel a bit effortful -- but every now and then, for just a millisecond or two, we get a sense of how it's going to be when the dance dances us.

Partnership is up for many of us right now, even the planets themselves are all paired up.  The Sun moved from a fast paced swing-yer-pardner with Mercury to somewhat awkward bow to Saturn.   Saturn is beginning to find his groove in Libra, where he's always treated with the kind of gracious respect he deserves.  This energetically helps us stay motivated to make life easier for a special someone, who may or may not be a partner of some sort.  Mars and Venus are locked in a passionate tete-a-tete in Scorpio, and the consequences of any relationship secrets are sorting themselves out.  Breakups are occurring.  And intense new partnerships are being formed.  Meanwhile, Jupiter and Uranus egg each other on in Pisces, creating a tsunami of intense yearnings to create bigger and better dreams.    Saturn has moved his attention elsewhere giving the dreams a chance to bubble up into our consciousness and tickle our imaginations.  And the two healing planetary energies, Chiron and Neptune, have been intimate for months in the last few degrees of the futuristic sign of Aquarius.  We are lucky to have that amplification of healing energy right now, many of us need it.  And there are a couple of hidden pairings as well, Uranus and Neptune are each getting a new perspective by house-sitting for one another.  Neptune, the planet of glamour and illusion is painting rosey-colored visions of technological possibilities and future endeavors, while Uranus is electrifying the energies around letting go of what no longer serves and creating space and energy to find the flow.   Uranus and Jupiter also have us looking at any victim habits we may have picked up with a view towards process improvement.  Pluto in Capricorn is glaring at Mercury, who seems to be too busy flirting to focus on making any powerful strides towards building career stability.  But Mercury knows that solitary power building is oxymoronic -- it's takes at least two to Jitterbug.

So yes, partnerships are front and center for many of us.  Whether it's business collaborations or romantic partnerships, or roomate scenerios, or parent-child teams.  We're scrutinizing all of them and figuring out how best we can help one another make a few dreams come true.  What skills do I have that can harmonize with the skills that you have to create a glorious synergy?  What are we attracted to right now - what's calling us away from the corners we've backed ourselves into?  This isn't about one serving the other selflessly or anyone doing the Martyr's Mash -- and please don't use that ugly word 'sacrifice' -- offering time and energy to enhance the lives of those around us, including (especially), our own merits more uplifting language.  Sacrifice is a bad habit -- mutual empowerment feels better.  We have a future to build, and it requires us to be our  most creative, resourceful and motivated selves.  This is about practicing graciousness and mannered cooperation until it becomes instinctive.  Someone special is watching and cares about what happens with us, which inspires us to be our very best.
